We received the following from Rev. Jan Dus after his visit to our church.
Dear Tom and Leanne,
I want to send you and your congregation my personal note of appreciation for the donation, which you sent to Camino’s work in Ukraine through Presbyterian Foundation. Your timing has been perfect and my colleagues used it immediately for our humanitarian work in Ukraine.
It has been two and half years now since Russia attacked Ukraine. Two and half years of suffering of many civilians - namely children. Whenever I travel to Ukraine and meet Ukrainian people, the same recognition hits me. I realize that I know nothing about war. I was born in peace, I have been living in peace. Whenever I travel into Ukraine, it is only for a limited time. At the end of my trip, I always return to my peaceful country. I can never really appreciate what it means being a child living for two and half years in a situation of war. I can never appreciate what it means being a parent raising children in a situation of war. I can only listen to the stories of others. And respect them...
Thank you very much for your donation. It helps a lot. And it means a lot to Ukrainian people. And just a little note: As we in Camino are all volunteers, we have no personnel costs. So we have used your full donation to help needy people in Ukraine. Thank you!
-Rev. Jan Dus
